WRCJ brings the music to the lake for Tuesday broadcast at War Memorial

Detroit’s classical and jazz public radio station, 90.9 WRCJ, will be broadcasting live from the Fries Ballroom at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, 32 Lakeshore Dr., on Tuesday (Oct. 5) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Co-sponsored by the War Memorial and Ray Laethem Buick GMC, the event will include a number of performances by Grosse Pointe musicians and artists, including a performance by members of the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra at 9 a.m.

Representatives from area arts, educational and civic organizations will be there with activities and goodies. Partner organizations such as Christ Church Grosse Pointe, Detroit Concert Choir, Dirty Dog Jazz Café and the Grosse Pointe Chamber Music Society will be set up with booths to share their missions with the visitors.

On-air personalities Dave Wagner and Chris Felcyn will also be there during the day broadcasting, interviewing the organizations and getting to know the visitors.

Roger Hull, the manager of major donors for the radio station, said this is the first time WRCJ has collaborated with and broadcast at the War Memorial.

Hull also said that he will be attending and is look forward to a number of things that day.

“As a native Grosse Pointer, I am very excited about connecting WRCJ on a personal level with its listeners in the community,” he said. “We have very strong ratings in Grosse Pointe and this is our way of saying thanks while raising classical and jazz music, arts and culture in the Grosse Pointe area.”
